The grapes were de-stemmed and crushed, the delicate pink juice was drained off the skins quickly to minimise colour and tannin extraction. The juice was then
fermented cold in stainless steel using an aromatic yeast strain. A
small amount of residual sugar was left in the wine to balance the
acidity on the palate. The wine was bottled early to
maximise flavour and freshness.
VINTAGE
Vintage 2024 offered ideal conditions for grape ripening. The
summer's warm days and cool nights, combined with
reduced rainfall, ensured the fruit achieved optimal ripeness.
As a result, the wines showcase exceptional varietal flavours,
featuring bright, spicy reds and clean, aromatic whites.
About the range
Selection 23
In the early 1900s Don and Ethel Forbes started a new chapter in their story, staking their family’s future on a 600 acre block of land nestled within a large sweeping bend of the mighty Murray River.
Today, the Zilzie Winery stands on Selection 23 and we remember our journey from the very first boots, and each generation that has followed since to carve their own path.
The front label artwork is an artistic interpretation of the aerial topography of the land we call home.
